Many of you in 2CVGB and the group of Southern Clubs will know John Rooney of the Wessex Ducks. Sadly on Wednesday 24th February 2005, John was tragically killed in a road accident near his home on his way to work.

John was one of the founder members of Wessex Ducks and helped to make it one of the biggest 2CV clubs "down south". Later he was instrumental in drawing the clubs in the South together to put on joint events and to encourage liaison of inter-club events.

John was a regular at World Meetings, French Nationals and 2CVGB events. His beloved 2CV-"GOT" was well known at these events. John loved "GOT" and drove it for well over 200,000 miles. "GOT" has just been fully restored after an accident and to renovate the general wear and tear. John had a 2CV van which received his TLC and was a credit to his devotion.

Those who knew John will feel his loss. An enthusiast like him is a rare indivdual.We will remember him for this and his sense of humour. His mis-shapen Aussie hat, a pipe and a pint will be an everlasting picture of a quiet and devoted 2CVer.

John's funeral was at Southampton Crematorium on Wednesday 9th March.
