Egypt - travelling south to Cairo and on to Sohag on the banks of the Nile on 1st April 2004


Rallye mail

The rally progresses south in the Nile Delta and along the Nile Valley via Cairo, then Beni Suef, El Minya and Asyut on to Sohag.

Sohag (or Sawhaj) is located on the river Nile about half-way between Cairo and Aswan.

It is in a densely populated agricultural region.

It has a population of 150,000 and the local industries include ginned cotton and silk weaving.

The rally stayed for one day and then moved off south heading for Wadi Halfa
