This road stage was marked on a Monty Carlo Classic basis. As this accomodates classes we introduced, for this stage only the HCC (Holiday Caravanists Class). A bonus of 50 points was available to anyone towing a caravan and arriving at checkpoints exactly one hour late in each instance.

Dave Shove Folds Flat.

a brief exprience of Spain

'Los pampillions non funcionada'
('beauty does not need to work')

All teams succeeded in completing the run through Spain. A remarkable testament to their resilience and skill and to the reliability of the 2CV. This stage was easy, however, being run on tarmac with road markings, accurate maps and excellent facilities.

The next phases will depend on the drivers keeping in touch, originating effective strategies and keeping fully alert. Sadly those who go 'off the air' and cannot be located within 48 hours of intensive searching by our 'Fokker Woolf Crop Spraying & Rescue Team' (Work permitting) will be assumed to have 'gone home'.

Barcelona - Algeciras Car-A-Van bonus points were awarded to Dave Shove (who actually towed a car-a-van) Roger Scott and Bob Cutler who are Ca-a-van types (who drive vans) and Peter Duck and Alan Taylor who are crawlers and flashers respectively.

Some teams turned when their patience was tested by being stuck behind Dave Shove (going up a hill) with his Car-a-van and scored black marks for deviation. Roy, team 25, used his 'Corner Cutter' and enjoyed a majer deviation, sadly resulting in entirely the wrong direction being taken and leading him into the Alhambra car park which he didn't get out of until he had lost serious amounts of time.

Sadly our cameras missed the only incident in the race when, in an attempt to take the lead on a down hill haipin Dave, and his car-ovan, pushed number one Andrew, 'now really' Duff, over the edge and blocked his own passage by 'jack-knifing'. Neither finished the last time gate but still did well overall.

Stage Results : 1st Roger Scott, 2nd Bob Cutler, 3rd Peter Duck & 4th Alan 'Streaky' Taylor (detailed stage results)

Rallye Results Overall : 1st Roger Scott, 2nd Wendy, 3rd Jim Crow & 4th Peter Duck.

News

After being seen in the Rallye-Cam Jukka Isomaki and Nalle Karhu have been offered leading roles in a magnificent new film drama with a superb finish

Have just watched Finnish film drama twice and feel too seasick to go to work (Pete is nautical by trade - ed). had to abort three crossings to the Isle of Wight last night due to broken oars.
Happy Christmas to all competitors and may all your bits keep rotating.
