team 16 : We'll play too!! It's about time we got a chance to
get out of this car - it's very crowded in here!!! Heather
and Kirsty Mac.
P.S
Be warned Heather's game is rugby, so expect some heavy tackling,
and I'm more of a swordswoman myself!! Kirsty.

Reply :- If you can get Barry (4), Dave(5), Louise (6), Bill
(7) and two more, Yvette (10)& I (11) will play so we would
be on...We leave Marseilles on Saturday so there's not a lot
of time....A lot of the Rallyists have dribbling skills and
it would be nice to stretch the legs - I should think that Marseille,
being a seaside town team, will be a friendly bunch and as the
season has only just started they could be a bit rusty. The
Plan is to play on Thursday evening (they have some floodlights
apparently). RallyeSud Organiser
Good news about team 27's recent success in the best car class
and the overall second position. We're suprised and pleased
with this result and looking forward to the next stages.
Love to join in the footer at Marseilles. I specialise in longshots
and have had quite a lot of experience of them (!) 69 would
be the best shirt number (if this is allowed?) and the tactics
used will anything required to 'maintenir la suprematie de football
Anglais.'
If you know of anyone wanting a Lomax to give as a Christmas
present, or unusual raffle prize, please let me know! It is
very underutilised during the current weather conditions!

Thanks for joining the team - I see an historic game developing...
Football
is a definite no-no with me. I will, however, offer to streak
during half-time wearing only an H Van grill muff and wellington
boots whilst dribbling red wine.
Have fitted 19 x 400 tractor tyres and Moroccan spec air filter
to H Van.
OK, I'll be no 12.
My only ever footballing tactic has been to run away
from the ball as fast as I can. So far it's worked, I've never
had
anything to do with footballs or cold muddy puddles. If that's
an
acceptable tactic, then I'm on the team.
(Wow sixth for doing
nothing at all in the Rallye! It must be that I never use brakes
as the brass band can't be helping my power to weight ratio,
but must be helping the momentum.)

Brilliant
- we have almost a full team so it's all systems go.. Your tactics
will be fine - although there won't be any cold muddy puddles
- this is the south of France - the main problem will be making
sure that we don't offend their hospitality by getting too high
a score.
I
am pleased that you are happy with your progress - you are clearly
doing the right thing - the excitement hasn't really started
yet!
I'm
using the traditional Citroen horizontally opposed strategy
and playing the supporting of a backward forward. I will be
doing Madonna-like running about but no ball touching and definitely
no singing.
Glad
to read of my progress! Modesty, and completion of the 'No Publicity
'Box prevents me fom disclosing the secret of success!
I'll be happy to participate in The Match on Thursday. Might be
a bit creaky in the joints and would welcome the opportunity to
call on a substitute at half (or even quarter time).
Number 2 would seem appropriate in view of Les Corniches etc.
Also, as I used to be what was called an 'inside left or right',
(sometime cannot remember whcich is my left or right foot) the
number might fit. Please note that my UK boot size is 7.5.
If you're looking for other team members, I recommend you ask
AdrianWinter from the Dutch entry. He's a prominent personality
in the Kenya (South Coast) Table Tennis League. I know he has
a natural eye to hand/foot coordination, particularly at meal
times so might not be too good at dribbling.
Probably
number 13 would bring me a lot of luck. My footie tactics
are so poor I dear not reveal them....well...
The tactics are quite simple: a long high pass directly to Nalle
and after some zigzagging he finishes the goal. Did you know "Karhu"
and "Nalle" both mean "bear". And those animals
can be quite fast sometimes.

......It
is again December. If you are thinking of sending Christmard
cards or give small presents to your fellow 2CV Friends,
there are some tips at my new pages http://www.sitruuna.com/2cvstuff/

Organiser's General comment to
Rallye Enthusiasts: Wise men & merchants are welcome to
set up stalls at the Marseille Football match and at Rallye
Sud stopping points until Christmas. Just e-mail the organiser
(envelope bottom of page) if you havn't been in touch yet.
Organiser: Hello Jukka, I have
facilitated national costume and a moving seasonal sack for
you (above) Would your co-driver, Nalle, like
to join in the football - he's been very well behaved, you would
hardly
know he was there, and it would be a pity for him to miss the
chance
of playing in an historic match.
Nalle
Karhu
I am sure Nalle would like to join the team.
He has just been so busy
with the maintenance of our rally car. It´s his car,
you know.
Jukka
Organiser: I am pleased that
your whole team is playing. Is Nalle musical? It could be handy
to be able to round off the match with a good Fin Nalle.
Hi
I spend most of my time chatting on the phone so exercise is something
I simply must have. I play five-aside, which is like Jorky Ball
but for bigger numbers of people. I will play no
8 and, if I may, I would like to offer to be the coach
as wel, but I must leave sharp on 10 o'clock.
Hello,
At PTS the leading
Citroen Specialist in West London, we take life very seriously
but that doesn't mean we can't apply some of the skills
we have accumulated working with Light Fifteens, H Vans,
2CVs, BXs, DSs. Lee Simper, is a bon viveur, natural athlete
and excellent with gearboxes is representing PTS in Shirt
no 22
i recieved your e-mail and started to read it then pushed the
wrong button and lost it.But yes I would love to play football,
can I have no 69 on my shirt and play right back behind the
goal, or maybe run around with a wet sponge helping to revive
the other exhausted players. Monty Carlo was scary round the
mountains, at least I kept to the road, I think, well most of
the time anyway. Is it time for drinks yet, I think we all deserve
them.Gerry
Organiser's reply: Alan has a penchant
for 69 so you'll have to get together (there's nothing in the
FA's rules to say there cannot be two people and I am looking
for rules that will give us an advantage on foreign turf.
Alan has been diagnosed with 'cave vide'
syndrome, one of the most feared conditions in France, often
brought on by guests accepting hospitality beyond the course
of duty but as wine virtually grows on trees over here I don't
understand what the fuss is about.
I am sure that we will have a good glug
after the match.
Wasn't
that football match fun, not too sure about the bath afterwards, too many
legs and things!!! Still onwards we go, I must say that the views are
superb as is the food. Not too sure what Bob is up to, he is being very
moody and not sharing his wine, must have been too much sun, I guess I
should give his hat back. Can we stop by a beach soon, a swim and sunbathe
would do us all good.

Gerry,
thank you for your e-mail and for playing so well against such fomidably
talented football stars. Funnily enough the people at your end of the
bath all said how nice it was (perhaps you were too close to the taps)
I think we could be invited to sporty events and parties all over the
place from now on. Certainly we are welcome to come back to France the
Captain said he'd like to see us playing Paris Pigalle United.
There
are lots of excellent beaches close to Barcelona - and the weather forecast
is good - we have a day in the sun on the beach with barbeque booked.
A visit to Gaudi's brilliant Cathedral is also organised before our endurance
run to Africa on Saturday.
By
the way the weather in England is cold (very cold) and wet.

Hello 2CV friend,
As you maybe know in Holland we have SINTERKLAAS and thats not the same
guy as SANTA CLAUS.
SANTA lives in Rovaniemi... Marina and I did see him during raid Mosquito
2002.
SINTERKLAAS (we say comes from SPAIN, but realy he comes from Turkey),
brings the presents to the little kids in Holland. Here in Veenedaal SINTERKLAAS
and ZWARTE PIET where spotted in a 2CV (with raid mosquito sticker number
5 on the motorhood) while he was visiting some places. We whish you a
merry Christmas and a happy new year and many 2CV greatings from Holland.
Ronald (MF) and Marina (MF) Bouman
Hoi,
Ik was gevraagd om 4 maal op te treden als Klaas op een peuterspeelzaal
in VEENENDAAL.

Hello Ronald
(MF) and Marina (MF) Bouman,
Thank you
for your Season's Greetings - May I offer you the very best wishes
from all the Rallye Sud teams and invite you to our virtual Christmas
Dinner. Do bring your own ice as it is likely that we will be in
the Sahara region and warm Gin can be quite dangerous.
Most of
the Rallye teams are from England where Chrismas isn't as rich as
yours. We put tinsel on a tree with a fairy on top and watch the
film 'The Great Escape' on the television.
Very best
wishes from the orgainsers -
See you at Citromobile in May in Utrecht?
?

Organiser's note: The football match was
a great success and the French team were magnanimous and showed warm hospitality
after the match which had, due to the competitative importance been at
times quite rough. Indeed after editing the most energetic kicking &
running part of the 'combat' the editor had a leg over. A good time, it
would appear, was had by all.

Sorry
I missed the footie - no I'm not, too much running about. I was watching
Alan (# 8) making a socket from a baked bean can
for an H van rear wheel nut.
Can we have a snakes and ladders competition later on when we get to some
jungle. I specially packed a 50 metre blow up ladder.
Regards
Peter Duck (# 9)
(Please insert can between between bean and for)
