Rallye
Sud go go go
2nd November 2002
(Stage
0.17)

Rallye mail

Each team has chosen, or has allowed
the Rally-Sud Super Computer to choose a own route to
RS-Stop-One, near Bayeux in Calvados.
The teams set off at ten minute intervals
(in the order they completed the M25 endurance race)
starting at noon on Saturday 2nd of November.
The stage was judged on an economy run
basis. All fuel, Channel crossing costs, accommodation,
subsistence and other costs incurred by the driver, navigator
and vehicle but not by support teams, additional passengers
etc will be calculated and the winners will be the teams
who are the most economical.
Any route was permitted.
No laws or traffic regulations could be broken (of course).
No privilege or priority could be claimed or demanded.
Teams were be expected to take prevailing weather conditions
into account and to arrive at Stop-One no later than
noon (French time) plus starting time off-set on Sunday
3rd November.
Penalties are £1 per minute for
early or late arrivals greater than + or - 15 minutes
of projected arrival time (noon (French time) plus starting
time off-set)
In the event that no route is declared
the by the stated deadline the team were given a route
plan by the organisers and this had to be adhered to
in that all instructions were to befollowed without exception.
In the event of failure to comply the team in question
would have enjoyed the same economy score of the least
economical team in the stage. |

Hi Dick,
I could not get access to your rallye page on your website. What
are the date again???
cheers
will be going thru Paris on thursday nite???
Xavier
|
Xavier,
It might be possible to get the cars off
earlier than planned (most people don't pay much attention in the
week, not that it makes any difference, because they have to work).
The cars are genuinely virtual which has lots of advantages, no
road tax has to be paid, the cars never need money spent on them
in real garages etc. The only disadvantage is that we, the drivers
and passengers are not in touch with reality (some people say this
is common with lots of drivers today) but sadly this means that
very few, very likely no, drivers or passengers will be able to
be in Paris themselves.
We have a lot of photographs, particularly
of the wonderful 50th birthday of the 2CV meeting and we can glue
our rallyists onto the historic backgrounds. In case any one is
concerned about this, the original material is not damaged in any
way and no attempt is made to deceive people into thinking that
the pictures are real. We use special processes to ensure that the
absence of veracity is immediately apparent to the observer.
While it has disadvantages there is an 'up-side'
which includes us being able to add snow, to the Monty Carlo Rallye
Sections (if necessary) and reduce the unpleasant level of uncertainty
found in today's hectic environment
Best wishes from Dick Roberts
