Rallye
Sud 2002 was the first ever 'Virtual Rallye'
Thirty
six teams from seven countries started out from London through
France and Spain stoped at Tangier, Timimoun, Tripoli, Alexandria,
Entebbe, Nairobi, Ngorongoro Crater, Dar es Salaam, Lilongwe,
Victoria Falls, Gabarone, Vryburg and Cape Town en route
across the length of Africa.
The
Sahara, as chosen by Andre Citroen for his historic endurance
trials, is a significant feature of the Rally where various human
and mechanical survival capabilities will be tested to the full. Asimulator has
been constructed to provide enough practice to ensure that the
challenging desert sections can be taken in the competitors'
stride. It
is a trial of endurance, courage, strength, knowledge, fortitude,
grit, survival, imagination sand and steam.
