August 2001 Tamworth International 2CVGB(that's in the Midlands!) CHAT FROM THE CHAIR Not a lot from me this month. The dreaded petrol price crisis caused me to phone a lot of the madhatters to say keep your fuel for work ,etc.Dave, bob and steve did go because they had some bits to sort out,etc Bill and I did not go because Bill was on call and needed to save fuel and we also had to clear his mums flat quickly because it was empty and we only had 2 weeks to do it in.Its not been a good time for us really. One thing about 2cvs is that,of course they will run on LRP ,so when every one was queing for unleaded we could just grin and fill up.At least we had one up on the Euroboxes this time round. I hope that in October we will have a really jolly gathering of long lost friends .I really feel withdrawal symptons from not attending the meetings,so hopefully see you all at the meeting on Tuesday..and if you have not been for a while, lets see you there, important things are afoot.. GILL Eventsà...The apple tasting on O ctober 15th includes craft fairs, vintage vehicles, plant stalls, morris dancing, excellent farm stalls, and cider tastings, etc Bring a picnic and meet 2cvs from other clubs in Surrey/Hampshire including portsmouth and southampton...see you all there THE SOUTHERN CLUBS AND THE 2CVGB AGM,COMMITTEE VACANCIES A DECISION ON THE NATIONAL WILL BE MADE AT THE AGM SO WE HAVE TO DECIDE..CAN WE DO IT? . OVER ENTHUSIASM LEADS TO .REGRETS THE DREADED RUST BUG STRIKES AGAIN(Thanks to dave farmar) The Mechanics guide to tools Hammer..originally employed as a weapon of war the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate expensive parts not far from the object you are trying to hit Electric drill..normally used for spinning pop rivets in their holes until you die of old age,but works better when drilling holes in the floor just above the fuel tank. Hacksaw..one of a family of tools built on the Ouija board principle. It transforms human energy into a crooked unpredictable motion and the more you attempt to stop its course the more dismal your future becomes Pliers...Used to round off bolt heads and, when nothing else is available, ideal for transferring heat from welding torches to your hand Oxyacetylene torch..Used almost entirely to set fire to things in garages no matter how much you move them Drill press..A tall upright machine that is useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bars out of your hands so they smack you across the chest .also flings your drink across that newly painted wing. Wire Wheel...cleans rust off old bolts then throws them across the garage at the speed of light. Also useful for removing flesh in the time it takes to shout ôsodö Bolt and Stud extractor..A useful tool that snaps off in engine blocks and is ten times harder than any known drill bit. Timing light..useful for seeing how much oil and muck there is in the engine, also useful for dropping into inaccessable places Extracts from the Belgium book of knowledge Ancient egypt was inhabited by mummies who wrote in hydraulics. They lived in the Sara dessert, where it is so hot people had to live elswhere Solomon had three hundred wives and 600 porcupines Gravity was invented by Isaac Newton. This is most noticeable in Autumn when the apples fall off the trees. Bach was the most famous composer in the world, and so was Handel,,he was half german, half english and half Italian.Bach used to practise on an old spinster in the attic. He died from 1750 to the present. In the first book of the bible(guinesses)Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree One of their children,Caine askedöam I my brothers sonö The above are from exam paper replies from A levels Summer is still here le editor!!!!
