CHAT FROM THE CHAIR
Well, I think the summer
is coming to an end, we
had to go indoors for
the meeting -still we did get a couple of meetings
in the courtyard
.We had a good attendance -more would
be even better...next time.
Again we had exchanges of bits.. Dave,
our editor,
announced he had
almost finished his re-chassis job with help from
Andrew and Ray
,and would be looking to sell this car on…,well
done dave...and thanks
for getting the giant spanners for the suspension
tubes...we now have
these for the members use(Bob Cutler is in charge
of tools)...so if
you fancy doing a chassis we now have the
tools..AND DAVE IS WILLING
TO OFFER HELP AND ADVICE..
Our raffle was good,
nearly everyone got a prize...keep bringing them,
it helps with the newsletter costs ,and wrapped up
as a surprise you
never know what you might win!. This message from
Bill..thanks for
your messages of support for his revision exam,,he
will see more of
us in October when he is finished. Gill

OAKHANGER PICNIC AND BIRTDAY CELEBRATIONS
Crowds started to cook and the sun still shone-in
spite of
threatening black clouds..various dead animals
sizzled away
in assorted shapes and sizes(there was a veggy bit
as well)-
everyone was really having a feast After a while
we bought out
the table, of Birtday
cakes and sparkly stuff ,in vain did we try
to light the candles,
the wind blew them out,,
this did not stop us
singing happy birthday for
Madhatters(10)fils-de-vitesse(13)Pompey
Puddleducks(11)Thames Tortoises(6)Southern
Clubs(4)and S.A.D.
off-piste ducks(2)...Club Clouseau did not know
how old they were
but were there as well as Somerset Cider Barrels,
The sponge, chocolate,
banana cakes, the
fairy and 2cv cakes and
biscuits all went and everything was soon eaten .
After this Jeff Culmer launched the Hobby horse
stable,several
of the friskier were waiting for their riders to
take them over
the jumps,,the younger of our members were the
first to go,,then
so-called adults went round,including a not too
willing Ham,..
.we did well and Bob Btotherhood was king of the
megaphone with
a brilliant running commentary..
After this the stronger and more energetic clubs
formed tug-of
-war teams-madhatters won their round(well the
other team had
gone) and games of Boules were in
progress..,something for eveyone
was the order of the day..,however there was a
shower of rain late
in the day ,then there was a beautiful double
rainbow ,hopefully I
have a picture of “James”underneath it,
Talking of photo's a good turnout of pikks in the
hall was well
received and provided fun for everyone….over 50
cars made for
an excellent day and made a wonderful sight spread
around the green….
.a brilliant birthday celebration...Gill
OAKHANGER kick off
Just 3 cars left the hogs -back for the early
start but on reaching
Oakhanger hall we were not the first there,French
Ticklers beat us
to it.Having parked on the village green the first
job ,which colin
had in hand, was to get the tea urn up and running
.The weather was
good and cars just kept arriving, and the green
was soon full and
the overflow section came in to use..,picnic
tables abounded and
general socialising began under the French flag
and the giant citroen
flag.
Andrew Jack and Tony White did a grand job on the
B.B.Q. 's
(well done and thanks for your hard work) I got
the megaphone(oh no,not that) and announced the
plan for the day,but everyone said I was easier to
understand without it.

2002….EVENTS NEXT YEAR..
Citromobile Utrecht May 4th/5th .. then drive to..
French national Lyon...May 8/12th...then to?
There is a disturbing trend of groups splitting up
into
smaller groups or internal problems causing people
to leave..
.two groups that are currently causing worry are
Wessex Ducks
,one of the biggest groups in the South, where
people-problems
have caused a number of people to leave, and a
change of venue
has not gone down well...and
fils-de-vitesse,agroup that was
very strong but venue changes again, plus an area
move,has caused
big drops in numbers.
As a ferret that also see's that the number of
ferrets
and ferrretesses in the national group is also
lower than
it has been for a while...yet see's people like
Thames Tortoises
and Madhatters doing well,I say to those two
groups,and to the
national organisations...look at venues,look at
areas...look
at membership drives, get things back….there is
more enthusiasm
for 2cvs than ever so letsa get ferreting out
there..! !!!!!!
