5am start
to meet our convoy of 2CVs (four cars and seven people from the Surrey
Madhatters 2CV Club) on the M25 for the run to take the Sea France
ferry from Dover to Calais.
The weather was fine and the crossing was
good and we were soon on our way driving south through
the French countryside
We stopped overnight at
a hotel and met up with Tony and Shirley. On hearing
that Yvette & I had hot air from the heating system
in our car Tony very kindly produced (and fitted!) two
caps for the heating tubes that cured the problem perfectly.
We had a pleasantly informal evening
meal in the restaurant over the road
Next
mornings breakfast was at a cafe by the Auchan Supermarket
on the bank of the Loire
and once refreshed we headed
East
We stopped at a Carrefour supermarket
at Moulins some 15km from our final destination to stock
up on groceries for the camping
we were amongst the first to check
in.
The
campsite we were given was very basic and the field
was very boggy which ensured that there were lots of mosquitoes
and midges to bite us ferociously.
A rowdy group from Orléans
ensured that we got very little sleep, but the weather
was mostly dry and the flea market was good so we made
sure that we enjoyed our stay.
