Waggel - 2007

Once again the Citroen Car Club of the Netherlands held its excellent Waggel Meeting at the Beekse Bergen Safari Park just south of Tilburg. 2cvtv travelled via Eurotunnel and we made our way north-east towards Holland. The Antwerp ring road was worse than usual, the combination the closure of one of the tunnels with Friday traffic made it very busy indeed. However, we prevailed and arrived at the Safari camping at 5 p.m. We were welcomed by one of the organisers Ron Vlieger and quickly met up with our Dutch friends.

The camping area is large and well laid out. It has excellent facilities with plenty of good toilet/shower blocks. Near the entrance there is a snack bar and a large club room with a stage and a bar.

The meeting attracts Citroen car owners from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK. This year a team from Sweden came along to promote the world meeting which takes place in July. There were many different citroens to see, from a vintage Traction Avant to the latest C4 Picasso, plus everything in between. The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back; the Citroen Car Club of the Netherlands is well organised, the event is run like a well-oiled machine and everyone works hard to make it a good event.

During the day various competitions were run and on Friday and Saturday evening there was live music which was very good. All in all it is an excellent event and we are looking forward to the 2008 Waggel.
