The 2nd Raid Mosquito was a success. The weather was perfect ( + 20...+30C) all the time, no technical problems, interesting remote places, two nice 2CV meetings and above all very nice people and new great friends. But where were all those mosquitos; probably they had their own meeting this year in Petkeljärvi. The number of foreign participants could well have been greater, but anyhow we were an average of 20 cars which is a good size for such a group.

For myself, the raid was 3300 km (from Vaasa), again a surprise even if we had made the distances shorter than the first Raid Mosquito. Of course we did not try to take the shortest way ever. Our losses were three trailer tyres...yes, the third flat was made on our way back just a few kilometers from Vehu. It was a total loss - I bought brand new tyres after that.

Economically, the raid was ok and we could more or less pay all our bills. If someone is interested there are still a few stickers left (small stickers 1,50 e and window stickers 2,50 e). We are planning to publish an image-CD of the raid. Jukka is planning to include a few digital videoclips there too. A small price will be charged to cover the material and postage.

There have been wondering, if a 3rd Raid Mosquito should be organised in 2004. The work involved in the planning is quite big and as this raid is targeted to foreign participants, we feel that the number of them should be much bigger (thanks to all of you who finally came this time). Of course we should start advertising earlier (meaning even more work) and it could work. In the spring everything looked fine, but then there were so many cancels. Let´s see what we will do. Any comments or ideas upon this are welcome.

Anyhow, the 10th Raid Laponie will take place in February 2004. If you want to be in the group, let us know as early as possible for a very preliminary registration for future infos. At the moment we have no dates or any other info to give you. Wait until the world meeting in Italy.

THANKS TO ALL THE PARICIPANTS AND TO THE 2CV CLUBS OF KUOPIO AND KAJAANI AND OUR SPONSORS (ESPECIALLY AUTOMECA) AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED TO MAKE THIS RAID HAPPEN.

On the behalf of the organisers,

Jukka
